Object Description

A late 19th century, French, brass inlaid scarlet red tortoiseshell and ormolu mounted mantel clock, the finial modelled as a basket of fruit above a waisted shaped case, the sides and front inlaid with engraved brass and with rococo bronze mounts, the circular gilt dial with twelve enamel tablets, numbered 1 – 12, an eight day movement with brocot suspension, rack striking the hour and half hour on a bell, the movement and pendulum numbered 8559, the movement stamped Billiet & Cottebrune, Paris.
