17TH CENTURY PARIS TAPESTRY
A thickly wooded landscape with a river running from the centre into the distance. With an exotic bird in the foreground contemplating the water and two ducks swimming in the reeds nearby. A brightly coloured parrot sits in a tree on the left hand side. Woven with a three sided blue patterned border decorated with an abundance of flowers and ribbons with a plume of ostrich feathers in each top corner.
Finely woven in many colours from silk and wool. Reduced in size, missing the lower border. France c, 1680.
