Object Description

An 18th century Georgian oak architect’s kneehole desk.

The desk has a lift up lid to the top to store plans and documents (interior measurement: 118cm x 56cm x 2.5cm).

The lidded top has an inset writing surface, a moulded edge a working lock and key and a very decorative pierced brass keyhole escutcheon.

The front of the kneehole has ten drawers and a cupboard in the recess.

The top two drawers on each side consist of a narrow pen and instrument drawer to the side of a small drawer.

The kneehole is flanked by three drawers either side that are pine lined and have brass swan neck handles.

The recessed cupboard door has a dome top, a fixed interior shelf and a working lock and key.

The desk stands on six bracket shaped feet. The desk is in un-restored condition and has a wax finish with a few chips and cracks. (Circa 1780)
