Object Description

A Very Good Quality George III Hepplewhite Period
Mahogany Sideboard Of Serpentine Form Having
Superbly Figured Top Over Drawers With Replaced
Brass Handles And Elegant Herringbone Detailing To
Stiles Raised On Square Moulded Legs

(Sideboards are of course one of the most functional and practical
pieces of furniture, as fit for their original purpose today as they were
in the 18th century when they were made. To stand at the side of a
dining room, or kitchen, and be used for the dual purpose of both storage
and to serve from. This example is a great size and serpentine in shape
which of course adds to the elegance, along with the extremely unusual
and detailed herringbone type decoration on the stiles around
the drawers. The most brass handles are later replacements but
fit the piece so well they they appear original without close inspection.)
