18th Century French Louis XVI Giltwood and Painted Barometer

Object Description

An 18th century Louis XVI black painted and giltwood barometer, the painted oval dial inscribed Barometre, signed and dated Mantelly & Rossy 1753, within a molded framed with a beaded border, flanked by a beautifully carved ribbon bound moulding, surmounted by laurel leaves and drapery, the base with a ribbon tied drapery. Matt and burnished gilding. Barometer not on working condition, but a very decorative piece with beautifully aged patina.
