Object Description

An Attractive George II Period Mahogany Demi Lune
Tea Table Having Well Figured Hinged Fold Over Top
To Deep Storage Compartment And Original Brass
Lock Escutcheon Raised On Elegant Turned Legs
And Pad Feet

(A sweet size and lovely untouched colour this elegant
table has the functionality of a fold over top therefore
doubling the size of it in the centre of a room, a deep
storage well which is nicely concealed below the fold
over top and the elegance of a simple side or console
table to stand against a wall when the top is not folded
out. There is a huge variety of places it could be used
and it would no doubt add a touch of Georgian elegance
to absolutely any setting. Originally dating to the mid 18th
century it almost certainly was made originally to be tucked
away at the side of the room and then brought out and
opened up when guests arrived for everybody to take tea,
which was of course the height of fashion at the time. The
deep storage compartment would have been used as storage
space for cups, saucers and all manner of tea related
paraphernalia.)
