Wall fountain base decorated with floral lambrequins around the edge and an urn overflowing with flowers on the base.
A blue and white mask handle on either side.
Rouen circa 1750.

Object History

The city of Rouen, Normandy has been a centre for the production of faience or tin-glazed earthenware pottery, since at least the 1540s. Rouen faience was essentially French in inspiration, though later influenced by East Asian porcelain.
