Object Description

A very beautiful, fine quality, inlaid tea caddy from the English Georgian, Sheraton Period, Circa 1785.

The tea caddy is all handmade with very fine quality features;
* Beautifully chosen figured mahogany.
* Exceptional inlays of Shells and patera
Detailed stringing inlays to edges, all using many different types of wood.
* Three internal compartments with turned knobbed lids-all original
* Curved satinwood lids with edge inlay

The inlaid detail, patination and colour of this piece is exceptional.

We consider the shield shaped keyhole escutcheon to be Ivory and have registered this with the UK authorities; Reference Number : MBD4KV9H

Object Condition

Wear consistent with age and use. Overall, a very high, finest quality piece with a beautiful patination & colour. This piece may have had feet to the base corners originally.
