Object Description
This beautiful porcelain huqqa (or hookah) is of Continental, possibly Russian origin and was created for the Persian market. The item is a historic smoking accessory which is highly collectable.
The huqqa features a slightly flared cup-shaped bowl on a knopped and waisted stem. This is set on a base with a ribbed cylindrical neck and flared bell-shaped lower body.
Crafted from white porcelain, the huqqa is beautifully decorated with deep blue and green paintings of flowers and plants, with parcel gilt details. The bowl and body of the huqqa feature half-length portraits of the Qajar kings of Persia, Naser al-Din Shah and Mozaffar al-Din Shah. Those on the body are set within gilt oval medallions.
