Object Description

A Very Good Quality Early 19th Century Regency Period
Rosewood Kettle Stand, or Wine Table, Of Unusual Proportion
Having Superbly Figured Shaped Top With Original Wooden
Galleried Edge, Raised On Elegant Turned Column And Tripod
Legs With Superb Original Brass Castors

(This beautiful and incredibly functional table is of a height very
rarely found in early 19th century furniture. It is for that reason that
we find it difficult to know it’s original purpose. It is possible that it is
just a later variation of the extremely popular Georgian Kettle Stand, or
alternatively it is possible that it was simply commissioned as a baby
brother/sister to a larger more standard typical Regency wine table.
One thing we do know for sure is that it is absolutely untouched and
in it’s original form with no restoration. The quality is superb and this
is evidenced by the selection of veneers. There is one small patch of
veneer missing from the banded edge, this is a historic loss and
approx 2.5cm in length. The castors are absolutely superb and give a
really good indication of just how high end a workshop this piece of workshop
must have been constructed in. Now of course there is an absolute plethora
of functions, but the most obvious of course is as a simple coffee, or lamp table
for which it is the absolute perfect size)
