Object Description

19th century William IV period mahogany antique three pedestal dining table. This dining table is made of large sheets of a very fine cut of dense grained mahogany. The grain pattern is very interesting and the whole table has attained a lovely colour and depth of patina over its hundred and eighty years. The three tops are removable and also tilt for easy storage or to move from room to room. There are two small leaves which allow the table to be turned from a dining table into two smaller breakfast tables. With the addition of two extra leaves this table will extend to around eleven and a half feet long and seat twelve to fourteen people. Interestingly this table has inverted dovetail brass clips which were patented by Nettlefolds. Also unusual are the wooden casters. Wood or leather casters were used to avoid damage when moving the table around on floors which were made of marble or other expensive material. This is a really fine table and must be seen to be appreciated. Call or email with any questions.
