Object Description

A magnificent and stunning antique Art Deco 4.57 carat diamond and platinum spray brooch by S.J. Rood; part of our diverse antique jewellery and estate jewelry collections.

This magnificent, stunning and impressive, large diamond brooch has been crafted in platinum.

The pierced decorated Art Deco frame has been modelled in the form of a stylised spray of flowers.

The five feature flower heads are each ornamented with a principle collet set Old European round cut diamond.

Four of the floral designs incorporate a convex sunburst style setting reflecting the details of the flower’s petals, all in the Art Deco manner.

The fifth, central floral design is embellished with seven lobed petals, integrated in the foreground of the bouquet’s design.

The flower petals are embellished with forty-eight pavé set diamonds, in a combination of Old European and eight-cuts.

The pierced decorated angular fan style frame to the lower portion, replicating the five stems of the aforementioned floral designs, are ornamented with twenty-three pavé set diamonds

The stems are tied by an impressive ribbon bow motif, incorporating twenty-three pavé set diamonds; this bow frames the internal border of the spray design.

The fluctuating, overlapping outer border of the bouquet arrangement is embellished with a further forty-seven pavé set eight-cut diamonds.

The brooch secures to the reverse with a hinged pin and safety clasp.

The brooch is signed to the rim at the lower border of the design with the maker’s mark for ‘S J Rood & Co. Ltd.’* (ROOD).

This antique Art Deco brooch has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as platinum.

This stunning 1930’s spray brooch is supplied with four independent diamond grading certificates for the feature diamonds, in addition to an independent diamond grading report card for the supporting stones.

NOTE:* S.J. Rood was established in 1873 in London’s esteemed Burlington Arcade. The Allen family diamond merchants not only produced exquisite jewellery, they focussed their retail business to the wealthy Londoners and those who held fame. After 1900 they were awarded the Royal Warrant by Queen Mary (wife of King George V), who was a regular client and commissioned pieces for herself and to give as gifts. After acquiring the jewellery reputable firm Cecil Drayson Ltd in 1963, S.J. Rood was bought out by Hancocks & Co in 1998; this company remains on the original premise of London’s Burlington Arcade to the present day.
