9ct Gold Powder Compact with Lapis Lazuli and Diamonds

Object Description

A beautiful Art Deco 9ct gold powder compact set with Lapis Lazuli and diamonds.  This elegant compact is hallmarked Payton Pepper Ltd, Birmingham 1934.  This stunning compact has a textured gold body with a contrasting central panel set with a lapis lazuli carved flower and from that a graduated step design featuring five little diamonds on the first two steps. The compact opens well and closes with a click.

Object Condition

The compact is in excellent condition.  There are some very light age related surface scratches to the body of the compact.  Internally the powder well where the hallmark is shows surface scratches most likely due to the cleaning out of residual powder over time.
