Object Description
A William IV ebony and brass mounted inkstand with boxwood line inlay decorated with cut brass boulle-style marquetry, the top with a pair polished brass pen trays and a pair of cut glass inkwells with original scroll and stylised hinged lids with matching central carrying handle. This Inkstand is possibly by Leuchars, Leuchars of 38 Piccadilly specialised in high quality dressing cases and desk items. They exhibited at the Great Exhibition in 1851 and the International Exhibition of 1862. The firm was sold to Asprey in 1888.
