Object Description
Large indian silver Locket depicting the mythological Apsara, one of the celestial singers and dancers who, together with the gandharvas, or celestial musicians, inhabit the heaven of the god Indra, the lord of the heavens. Originally water nymphs, the apsaras provide sensual pleasure for both gods and men. The collar is finely worked and measures 50 cm. Neither of these these two items are hallmarked but they both test silver. The silver collar can be worn on its own.
