Eighteenth century café au lait tea bowls and saucers Chien lung period. 1736-1795. The bowls measure 8 cm high x 4.50 cm in diameter. The saucers 13 cm in diameter. One of the saucers still retains the Christie’s auction label from the sale of the famous Nanking Cargo Wreck of the Geldermalsen ship. The ship was commissioned by the Dutch East India Company, it hit a reef and sank in the South China Sea during its return journey to the Netherlands in January of 1752.
