Object Description
Isfahan, the ancient capital of Persia, was the creative hub of amazing Persian art and textiles during the 17th century Safavid period and Isfahan rugs lay claim to this proud tradition. Many of the court-quality carpets that survive today are attributed to Isfahan.
This early Isfahan carpet was created before the commercialization of the traditional workshop weaving of the 1920’s. The creative drawing and colours are derived from earlier (Isfahan) weavings of the 17th Century. The array of colours combination including green, sky blue, red and grey-blue are all natural dyed colours that have nicely aged.
This Isfahan carpet is in very good condition for every day use. It has still retained its plain original borders on all sides.
A charming example with decorative appeal to blend in a wide variety of settings.
