Object Description

This is not quite my normal thing but I thought a bit of fun and, for the right collector, a perfect and rare piece that could be used on your home. For sale is this brass/bronze door knocker in the style of Christopher Dresser and quite possibly designed by Christopher Dresser. I can find no markings on the piece and it does not appear in the books on Dresser so I am cautiously saying “style of”. It is classic Dresser and aesthetic movement design.
The knocker is very similar to marked Archibald Kenrick & Sons (West Bromwich) pieces that I have seen, and I believe they would have been the manufacturer of this knocker. Christopher Dresser designed for Kenrick c 1880-1884.
Condition is excellent. I have not touched the patina and there is some old green paint that could readily be removed from the sides – see images. There is no underplate, so the knocker will need some metal fitting to create a good knock (and protect a wooden door). The screw clearly does not look original.
