A Fine Gilt Bronze and Onyx Inkwell
Surmounted by Michelangelo’s Lorenzo de Medici
Constructed from a dished piece of onyx, raised on ormolu stepped feet with carrying handles to the sides, having two lidded inkwells flanking a central figure of the seated Lorenzo de Medici, Duke of Urbino, as sculpted by Michelangelo and known as “Il Pensieroso.”
