A Japanese needlework of an eagle, worked in gold, silver and grey silks on a dark ground with the large bird perched on a pine branch watching a sparrow flying past, inscribed on the reverse ‘This picture given to Muriel Putnam-Smith July 1999 by her grandmother Putnam (Maude). It was brought from Japan by one of her ancestors.” in a faux bamboo and embossed leather frame. Japanese, circa 1900.
