Object Description
A rare opportunity to own a piece of furniture designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens.
This large chimneypiece was designed by Lutyens for Papillon Hall, Leicestershire in 1903. It is made of hand carved mahogany and has a beautiful patina. There is a deep mantle shelf above the fire surround and a servants bell to the right. The associated rouge marble bolection, can be used/adapted. The house was demolished in 1951 and this chimneypiece has been privately owned ever since, after being rescued from the billiard room, for which it was made.
