This superb five-piece salon suite consists of a canape, a pair of open armchairs, and a pair of side chairs. It was made in the nineteenth century in the Louis XVI style, and thus combines the splendour of earlier baroque style, with the refinement and sophistication of the Neoclassical. The carving of the giltwood is exceptional, and it is complemented by and replete with excellent quality later twentieth century red and gold foliate fabric upholstery. The carving consists of column-like beams and legs, and minimal but effective elements of flair, such as the carved ribbons that line the top of each piece. Truly a set worthy of a palatial setting, this exceptional salon suite would be a stand-out highlight to any suitable interior.
