Object Description

A finely cast pair of lead urns of campana form having decorative handles in the stylized form of a griffin, the main body having an angel head with wings motif, with the lower half being of lobed form raised on a circular socle.
Similar examples can be seen illustrated in the early 20th century book on English leadwork by Lawrence Weaver – specific reference to similar models can be seen at Castle Hill, Devon and Myddelton House, North London.
