Object Description
A pair of Neoclassical Paris porcelain two-handled oviform vases
French, 19th Century
Height 34.5cm, width 14cm, depth 11cm
This excellent pair of porcelain vases were made by Parisian craftsmen in the nineteenth century, in an oviform Neoclassical design with rich gilt ground. Mounted on a pair of black square bases, they noticeably feature a pair of winged busts atop each handle, and on each frontal face display painted panels with figures and cattle, in idyllic woodland and river landscapes.
On the reverse they feature circular golden roundels against a back ground, with subtle decorative images within. Truly impressive display pieces, they are in fine condition, and are remarkable examples of 19th century Parisian craft.
