A pair of Louis XVI style ormolu lidded urns with designs in the style of Clodion

Crafted in the 19th century and heavily in debted to Clodion, the nineteenth century French sculptor par excellence, for their decorative designs, these wonderful pieces are a pair of lavish and indulgent Louis XVI style urns. Each is modelled in relief with revelling Bacchic cherubs, and surmounted by a winged putti holding a cornucopia in each hand. They are mounted on verde antico marble bases and one is stamped ‘AD’ to the interior.
