Raised on castors, all brass-ware is original to this desk. The top surfaced fitted with a new tooled , full hide black leather replacing the torn original.

Object History

On both inner surfaces of the Right & Left drawers there is a later ink marking reference to The University of Liverpool together with what appears to be a room number. ( see photograph).

As both the founding of the University and the granting of the Ceres Patent are around 1880 we believe that this very unusual desk may have been supplied as original furniture at the time. Further research might be very rewarding.
