This five-piece set of exquisite silver bowls were made by Georg Roth & Co., the excellent silversmiths in Hanau, Germany, in the latter part of the nineteenth century. They consist of silver mounts or cages, with silver handles, upon which are elegant curved silver liners which open out and sink into the silver beneath. They are of differing sizes, and showcase a stunning contrast and combination of silver and green. Georg Roth & Co. worked in multiple historical styles, most notably Neoclassical and French Rococo, and these pieces are fine examples of their output. The silver weight in total is 3,400 grams.
