Object Description

Master weaver Mohtashem is one of the most revered weavers from Kashan. His rugs are some of the highest category Persian weavings and are often considered the crème de la crème of Kashan weaving. The town of Kashan itself, located in central Persia, is known as one of the greatest classical Persian weaving centres. Over a short period during Late 19th – Early 20th century, Mohtashem created some of his finest, most elegant pieces. His work is characterised by its remarkable quality and designs, subtle colours and the use of imported fine merino wool.

This elegant rug has subtle colours and a spacious drawing in relation to its size. It is in good usable condition with a thin pile and minor restorations.
