This quite possibly unique all sterling silver coffee table, was created by Frank Cobb & Company in Sheffield in 1927.
While we have had silver plated examples of coffee tables before, we have never been able to offer for sale an all sterling silver example.
The tray, which is decorated with a shell and gadroon border, and an engraved crest to the centre, can be removed from the base and used on its own. The tray is secured to the base by sterling silver turn screws, which hold the tray in place, and allow the table to be moved as one item. The table is supported by four cabriole legs, joined by an X-form stretcher centred on a knobbed finial
When together the table measures 19 inches (48cm) tall, by 27.75 inches (68cm) over the handles, by 16 inches (41cm) deep, and weighs an impressive 8.4kg (270 troy ounces).
