A very nice and decorative Dutch / Indonesian longcase clock from circa: 1900, in 100% original condition and with a very important signature of the company:
Van Arcken & Co Hofleveranciers ( Royal suppliers) Batavia and Soerabaia ( two towns in Indonesia.)
This company was a very famous company in Indonesia which sold jewellery, silver and gold to Royals whole over the world and was very famous around 1900.
The long case clock is made of: Djatti wood, (that is an Indonesian type of wood and very rare.) the original dial and hands are signed. The pendulum and the weights are original and the clock is high: 215 cm, wide on top: 58 cm and wide in the middle: 46 cm and deep: 25 cm.
The movement has been serviced and is in working order it is stamped Lenzkirch AGU 1 million with number 468308.
Lenzkirch was a very famous well know German Clock company in Lenzkirch Black forest.
They where know for making high quality movements.
The clock strikes every 30 minutes on a gong.
The pieces of glass in the front door are all bevelled. (not to see on the photo’s)
It is a heavy movement inside and there is a whole story to tell about the company.
