Object Description

A golf picture of ‘Addington’ looking towards the 4th green by Ernest Greenwood, (untiled proof).This is one of a series of aquatints of golf courses published at the time by Fores.

The artist was born in 1913 and studied at the Gravesend School of Art before attending the Royal College of Art from 1931 – 1935. He then spent time studying in Rome, Paris and Copenhagen. In 1973 he was invited to take the post of president of the Royal Watercolour Society, a position he held for eight years during which time he did much to help the society recover from a time of financial difficulties. Ernest Greenwood exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Institute, Royal British Academy and many provincial galleries.
