Object Description
The top half of a teak Aldershot Campaign Chest.
The half chest would have originally had a painted pine packing case, with feet, that it would have sat on to form the full sized piece of furniture. During travel, the top would have been packed inside the lower half packing case.
Its not unusual for the smarter top halves to have been kept whilst the bottom half was discarded. Although they can no longer be used as originally intended, they do fit in very will with modern living being the right height for a coffee table. They can also be used at the end of a bed and provided plenty of easy access storage.
This chest is English but has teak drawer linings with the back boards made of pine. Circa 1900.
