An Early 17th Century & Later Wainscot Chair

An impressive armchair raised on baluster turned legs adjoined by moulded stretchers.
The scrolled crest over back panel carved with classical knot and foliate decoration.
The substantial and slightly down-swept arms flanking plank seat with shaped skirt.
Bearing the initials R.S. on either leg with rich dark patina thoughout.

Object Condition

Stable condition with old repairs and additions commensurate with age
Later carving to lower cresting rail.
