Object Description

A very unusual high quality pair of Austro Hungarian silver claret jugs with cast handles of entwined snakes being attacked by a crane. The claret jugs are of exceptional quality with cast Bacchus to the front of the jugs. The jugs also have two lids, one for filling, one for pouring. The pouring lid is weighted to allow a even pour of wine. The jugs’ bodies are made of engraved heavy glass crystal.
The jugs are hallmarked for the Austro-Hungarian period 1867-1922, with specific mark for Pest, now Budapest. There are other unidentified makers marks. Condition is excellent, with no restoration.
These are not my typical arts and crafts fare but are simply great examples of their type.
