Object Description
Ancient Roman earrings, 2nd century AD. A pair of yellow gold earrings, each with an inverted drop shaped ornament decorated a gold bead and scrolled wire ornaments and borders, each on a twisted wire loop, suspended from an ornate open looped hook composed of twisted and braided gold wire and centred with a gold ball and a florette form, and with an approximate total weight of 3.82 grams, tested 22 carat yellow gold.

Complete matching earrings such as these are a rare survival from the ancient world. These earrings are a testament to the high level of skill of the craftsmen of the time and are in fine condition commensurate with their age.
