Object Description
A fine restrung Ancient Roman green glass beaded necklace. The body of the necklace is comprised of thick tubular beads with smaller spherical beads dispersed throughout in a variety of green hues and textures, creating a mosaic-like impression. The necklace culminates as a centrepiece which consists of three larger beads. The first of which is a large translucent emerald tone in a spherical shape which features detailed ovular etchings with protruding nodules. This is followed by a smaller torus shaped bead of similar translucency and colour shade, and finally an elongated ovular shaped bead. The piece is finished with a modern gold-plated clasp (please be aware that the clasp has not been professionally tied).
Half-length of necklace: 24cm
