Object Description
Ancient Roman Minerva intaglio ring. Set with an oval cornelian intaglio in a closed back rubover setting, finely engraved with Minerva, goddess of wisdom and war with spear and helmet, flanked by broad smoothly integrating shoulders which taper through to a solid D-shape shank. Tested yellow gold, approximately 5.7g in weight, circa 2nd century AD.
