Object Description
Ancient Roman gold ring with Minerva intaglio. Set to centre with an oval hardstone intaglio in a closed back rubover setting, finely engraved with an image of the goddess of wisdom and war, Minerva, who is depicted standing wearing a helmet and holding a spear and shield, surrounded by a finely pierced filigree pattern featuring floral motifs, the broad integrated shoulders tapering down to a hollow D-shape shank. Tested yellow gold, approximately 7.37g in weight, circa 3rd-4th century AD, accompanied by Oxford Labs X-ray fluorescence analysis report stating the composition of the metal.
