Description:
This is a good quality antique 16″ mahogany Ansonia wall clock, circa 1930, designed for use in municipal buildings, with a railway station design, has been lovingly restored to its former glory and is now in good working order, as can been seen from the photos.

This Ansonia wall clock boasts a beautiful ebony colour dark mahogany case, with a moulded brass bezel and a pendulum access door on the underside. The mahogany case has been French polished to revive the wonderful ebony colour. On the back of the clock is a bracket to attach the clock to the wall.

The Ansonia wall clock houses a top-quality single brass barrel spring driven timepiece movement (not fusee), which would have been shipped over to India and then cased locally, in order to reduce shipping costs at the time.

The movement has been restored and serviced and is now in good mechanical order, ensuring this clock is reliable and keeps good time. The pendulum, which is attached to the mechanism by accessing the clock from the door below, can be adjusted in length to allow you to regulate the clock speed. The station clock comes with a key, which is used to wind the mechanism through the centre of the face dial.

This railway / station wall clock face features an ivory colour dial with black Arabic numerals and elegant shaped hour and minute hand. A hinged solid brass bezel houses the glass face that protects the tin dial and face whilst in operation. The brass bezel opens on a right-hand hinge to allow you to adjust or set the time. There is a catch to the back of the clock that locks the brass bezel in place and stops it from accidentally swinging open.

The Ansonia wall clock looks great in a variety of rooms and also in either a traditional or contemporary setting. This truly is a very beautiful antique wall clock of classic styling and quality construction. It will become a member of the family after not too long!

Provenance:
This clock was designed for use in public buildings such as schools or railway stations across the British colonies, predominantly India, therefore its reliability and quality of construction were paramount. This clock is of very good quality and it was constructed prior to wartime restrictions were imposed regarding materials; therefore, no costs were spared in its construction.

UK 2-Year Warranty:
A free 2-year warranty against mechanical failure is provided with the purchase of the clock, commencing from the date of delivery. This warranty does not cover accidental damage (i.e. dropping the clock). In the highly unlikely event there is mechanical failure, we will arrange to have the clock collected free of charge and returned to us for any repair that is required. Once the clock has been repaired, we will then return the clock to you free of charge. Most reasons for the clock stopping is due to the clock not being positioned correctly at the right angle on the wall. This can be easily corrected by re-positioning the angle of the clock to ensure that an even “tick-tock” noise can be heard from the pendulum. This warranty policy only applies to deliveries to the UK.
