Object Description

A mid 17th Century oak panel depicting Judith, a patriotic herione, having beheaded Holofernes, an Assyrian general, with a maid having the head in a sack. Judith first plied him with drink then beheaded the general the oppressor. The whole has a rich dark colour and excellent patination.
