Object Description

This is a gorgeous Art Deco bronze statue of a Fallen Roman Gladiator by the renowned artist Rudolf Kaesbach (1873-1955), circa 1920 in date.

He is posed on one knee with his sword in his raised right hand, on a naturalistic mound base and shaped black marble plinth, signed R KAESBACH.

The attention to detail here is remarkable and this statue has a wonderful dark bronze patina with golden hues showing through.

There is no mistaking the unique design and quality of this gorgeous bronze figure. It is sure to receive the maximum amount of attention wherever it is placed.

This high quality antique hot cast solid bronze was produced using the traditional “lost wax” process, otherwise known as the “cire perdue” method.

Rudolf Kaesbach
was born in Munich but studied and worked in Paris, Dusseldorf and Brussels before settling in Berlin. He is renowned for his horse compositions, and created various models of this form with a single man and a horse in motion. The Ernest Krass foundry also cast bronzes after the other renowned German equine sculptor Albert Heinrich Hussman.
