Arts and Crafts Cabinet by Liberty and Co.

A very rare antique cabinet by Liberty and Co.
This late 19th century walnut and leaded glass cabinet has an enamelled ‘Liberty and Co. London’ label to the reverse.

The design is in the style of *Leonard Wyburd who was both designer and director of the furnishings and decoration studio of Liberty and Co.

This rare antique cabinet has an ‘up and over’ leaded glass door, with amber bullseye glass, which reveals four sliding trays. Below this are two drawers and five folio slots.
It is constructed from solid walnut and has its original ring handles.

It is in good antique condition with the original finish and only minor blemishes and signs of wear associated with light use over the period of 115 years or so.

*Leonard Francis Wyburd RA (1865 – 1958) was a British painter, Interior designer and noted furniture designer. He was broadly part of the Arts & Crafts movement, and the head of Liberty’s Furnishing and Decoration Studio from its foundation in 1883 until he left in 1903.
