A German Bronze Figure of an Athlete by Aktien Gesellschaft Gladenbeck, Berlin. The foundry mark is for 1902. This bronze is very finely executed with a wonderful patination. The original marble plinth remains.
Carl Gustav Hermann Gladenbeck (1827 – 1918 ) founded the foundry in 1851, The Gladenbeck Foundry was relocated to Berlin, Germany in 1857. In 1888 it became the Aktien-Gesellschaft H. Gladenbeck und Sohn under the directorship of Hermann Gladenbeck and sons Oskar and Alfred. Family members and shareholders ran the company until the first quarter of the 20th century..
