The original cabinet maker has created a desirable desk of a size and proportions which are rarely found.
It was made to the highest standards and incorporates a number of desirable features.
The carcass and drawer linings are made of oak.
This is a very stable timber for the decorative veneers.
The desk has a fold over top which is supported by pull out lopers.
The top has re entrant corners and is cross banded in oyster veneered laburnum and feather banded.
There are 2 long drawers, smaller drawers beside a recessed cupboard all of which have yew cross banding, feather banding and cock beading.
The brass handles, locks and escutcheons are old replacements of those which would have been found in the 18th century example of this desk.
