This is a beautiful antique burr walnut and inlaid bookcase or display cabinet, made around 1860 in England.
It has been crafted from the most beautiful burr walnut, and has elegant inlaid decoration.
It has two glazed doors on top, for displaying your favourite books or ornaments, with two useful drawers below, the two panelled doors on the bottom open to reveal a spacious cupboard.
It retains its original handles and locks.
It is a beautiful piece which would look beautiful wherever placed.

Burr Walnut refers to the swirling figure present in nearly all walnut when cut and polished, and especially in the wood taken from the base of the tree where it joins the roots. However the true burr is a rare growth on the tree where hundreds of tiny branches have started to grow. Burr walnut produce some of the most complex and beautiful figuring you can find.
