Antique Edwardian Carved Mahogany Pedestal Desk:
A beautiful antique mahogany desk made from good quality figured timbers in the “Chippendale” revival style.
The top has recently been restored including french polishing in the traditional manner and has a new antique brown leather writing surface with blind and gilt tooling. This is surrounded by a cross band of mahogany with an “egg and dart” carved border and square corners.
Below the top there are three drawers with and each pedestal also has three drawers. All drawers have ogee moulding to the front edges, mahogany linings, brass locks and the original brass handles. There is a key for all drawers.
The pedestals also have an “egg and dart” carved molding to the bottom edge and stand on four short cabriole legs with pad feet and acanthus carved knees. It is an attractive bright mahogany colour with panelling to the reverse.
The desk is constructed in three sections for ease of installation.
This very attractive antique desk has been polished all round so can be used as a free-standing piece facing into a room if required. It would make a very good focal point for a traditional or contemporary office or study.
