Description:
This is a fine quality antique English Georgian corner cupboard, constructed from plum pudding mahogany timbers, with a bow front design, circa 1780, displaying a stunning colour, in excellent original condition. The Georgian corner cupboard comprises a moulded protruding moulded segmented cornice (which dates it before the Regency period) decorated with inlaid boxwood banding, flanked by ebony string inlay. The bow front doors are constructed with best quality timbers – plum pudding mahogany, which is identifiable by the “raisin” like swirls in the grain. It is rare to see furniture constructed with plum pudding mahogany and it is a certain sign of quality. The Georgian corner cupboard doors retain their original brass “H” hinges and “eagle” shaped key escutcheons. The right-hand door retains the original steel working lock (with working key). The inside of the door retains the original steel latch and hook, which locks the left-hand door.

The doors open to reveal an original painted interior, comprising three bow fronted shelves, useful for storing glasses or other items. Three delightful bow front drawers can be found below; the two left-hand drawers pull out and have been constructed with oak drawer linings and delicate hand-dovetailed joints. The right-hand drawer is hinged and acts as a miniature cupboard. These drawers retain the original brass decorative knobs. The corner Georgian corner cupboard retains its original solid backboards and four metal brackets on the back to enable the cupboard to be screwed to the wall. The Georgian wall hanging cabinet terminates on its original segmented moulded plinth.
The Georgian bow front corner cabinet boasts a stunning rich dark mahogany colour, having been wax-polished in our workshop to a professional standard, along with the years of care and cleaning it has received.

This wall hanging Georgian corner cupboard is ideal storage space in the dining room or living room, useful for storing glasses for example, and offers significant storage space off the floor. This item would certainly grace any home and is a great investment as it is extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
