Description:
This is a stunning exhibition quality antique Regency mahogany two-door chiffonier cabinet, circa 1830, in excellent original condition. Supporting a raised back with two shelves and pediment, decorated with a foliate scroll relief carved pediment, it is reinforced by two finely ring-turned column supports and finials. Below, there is a decorative cross-banded mahogany drawer, constructed with hand dovetailed oak drawer linings, which retains its original brass working lever lock and key and mahogany turned knobs. The drawer interior boasts the original blue Regency rice paper lining, which is very nice to see it has survived intact until today. The chiffonier would have most likely been used in a dining room to store the families’ best crockery and cutlery. Below the drawer sit two lovely mahogany doors, both featuring inset moulded panels, flanked by block columns. The right-hand door retains its original working lock, with a key. Inside, there is a central shelf. The left door retains its original internal brass locking latches. The chiffonier stands on a lovely protruding breakfront-moulded plinth, with the back of the chiffonier retaining its original pine backboards, terminated on the original elegant turned bun feet.

It goes without saying that this chiffonier boasts an absolutely stunning standard of design and construction; it is an example of the best quality Regency cabinets available today. It is becoming extremely rare to find such quality of materials and craftsmanship in antique furniture as this piece. This chiffonier would have been commissioned for a wealthy individual or family.

The chiffonier boasts a rich mahogany colour. As its boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

For any large items that require 2 people to lift the item, we ask that you are available at the time of delivery to be able to give our shipper a lift off the van and into your house with the item. If you are not able to lift items yourself, we ask that you have someone on hand at the time of delivery to assist our shipper with lifting the item.

Free 14 Days UK Returns & Refunds:
A free 14-day “no quibble” returns policy (from the date you receive the item) is available if you are not happy with this item. We will collect the item free of charge from you (we do not charge a return fee / collection fee). You will be given a full refund as long as the item is returned in the same condition. We will collect returns using our own specialist furniture delivery company. We will not accept returns via a courier service (due to experience of damaged items in transit). This refund policy only applies to deliveries to the UK.

For UK buyers, we accept cash on collection or delivery; cheque, credit card, BACS (free bank to bank transfer) or PayPal. Payment is requested within 5 days of the sale. Payment must be cleared before the items are collected or delivered.

Object Condition

This is a stunning exhibition quality antique William mahogany two-door chiffonier cabinet, circa 1830, in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chiffonier has been cleaned and French polished by hand, to a professional standard, in our workshop. Therefore, the colour and patination of mahogany is of an excellent standard. There are no stains or watermarks to the top! The drawer and doors close flush to the frame; they are not warped and there are no splits to the door panels. The drawer interior boasts the original blue Regency rice paper lining, which is very nice to see it has survived intact until today. The drawer also retains its original working lock and key with original turned knobs. The right-hand door retains its original working lock (with a working key) and the left drawer retains its original internal brass locking latches. The carcass is solid in joint with no lose movements and there is no missing veneer. The chiffonier stands on its original turned feet. This item is solid in joint and is ready to be used.
