Object Description
This handsome English antique pedestal desk has well figured mahogany timbers throughout.
It has a replacement green hide writing surface with gilt and blind tooling. This is surrounded by a cross-band of mahogany with a ‘thumb’ moulded edge and round corners.
The frieze and pedestals are each fitted with three drawers which have mahogany linings, hand cut dovetail joints and brass locks (stamped with a crown above VR) and a key. The front edges of the drawers are cock beaded with a brass escutcheons and turned wooden knobs.
The pedestals stand on plinth bases with hidden castors and all drawers .
The desk is made in three sections, the top and two pedestals, for ease of installation.
This fine quality pedestal desk would look very handsome in any traditional or contemporary office or study area.
