A fine pair of 18th century silver candlesticks of tall proportions with bead borders and attractive leaf and scale decoration. Detachable nozzles. Each has a vacant sunburst cartouche.
Total unfilled weight 941 grams, 30.2 troy ounces.
French silver marks for Lille, France, 1784.
Maker Louis-François-Joseph Devaucenne (1752-1832, master 1778).
Marks. Each marked underneath with town mark combination date and makers mark FLDV, the sconces marked the same with DV version of the maker’s mark. Additionally, later marked to bases and sconces for second standard (minimum 800) for Lyon 1819-38, départment 67.
